This is the holo Blaine's Charizard, card #6 from the 1999 Japanese Gym 2 set (Challenge from the Darkness), in Japanese. It is a PSA 10 Gem Mint in the original PSA slab (cert 99423768).

Blaine's Charizard is a Stage 2 Fire Pokémon, LV.50 with 100 HP, evolving from Blaine's Charmeleon. It is one of the headline holos of the original Gym era, a Team Rocket-adjacent Gym Leader card with its own artwork and not a reprint of the Base Set Charizard.

The PSA 10 grade confirms condition, and the photos show how the holo pattern, borders and surface present in the slab.

Blaine's Charizard #6 Japanese Gym 2 FAQ

Is this the same card as the English Blaine’s Charizard?

No. The English Blaine’s Charizard is in Gym Challenge, numbered #2, and trades on its own. This card is the Japanese Gym 2 printing, #6, with Japanese text. The two have separate PSA populations and prices, so do not compare sold comps across them.

Does a Japanese Gym card have a 1st Edition stamp?

No. The original Japanese Gym sets were not printed with an edition stamp, so there is no 1st Edition designation on this card or its PSA label.

What separates a PSA 10 on a vintage holo?

Centering and edges first, then holo surface. Scratches and print lines in the holo foil are the most common reasons a copy misses a 10, so this grade is a statement about the foil as much as the borders.

Is the PSA 10 the top of the population?

It is the highest grade PSA assigns, and the cert reports zero cards graded higher. How many other 10s exist is not shown in public sources we can cite, so confirm current counts at psacard.com/pop before comparing prices.

How do I verify this slab?

Enter cert number 99423768 at psacard.com/cert and match the card name, set, number and grade to the label and photos. Then inspect the case for cracks, scuffs or any sign of tampering.
